Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the characters, called mutants, of Nuclear Throne have collected together with the aim of travelling throughout the world to reach the Nuclear Throne. Most canon information revealed by the developers was done during development livestreams. Most of the theories and speculations have formed from analyzing the game's world, environment details and loading tips. The plot of Nuclear Throne has been discussed amongst the community as a result of the developer's minimal contributions. Aside from certain melee weapons, weapons consume one of five different ammo types (bullet, energy, shell, bolt, and explosive). After looping the game, special "golden" and "ultra" weapons become available. The weapons available to the player get increasingly advanced and powerful as the enemies become increasingly difficult and numerous. The player can have two weapons equipped at any time, such as a shovel and an assault rifle.
NUCLEAR THRONE TOGETHER HOSTING UPGRADE
The player starts with the basic revolver, but they may upgrade by taking weapons from red chests and collect more ammunition from yellow chests. Upon reaching level 10, the player can choose a character-specific "ultra-mutation".

The game has a leveling system, where the player gains experience in the form of radiation pellets, or "rads", dropped by enemies, that allow them to get different mutations and choose what would benefit the character the most out of a selection of four, randomly selected mutations. Except for special weapons acquired in a hidden level and "crowns" retained until after defeating the final boss, anything acquired in one playthrough does not carry over to the next. The user may continue looping indefinitely until death. After this, the player may choose to loop to the beginning of the game again with a greatly increased difficulty. The player progresses through the linear level structure until level 7-3, where the final boss, the Nuclear Throne, has to be defeated. Secondary sprites or skins can be acquired for the characters played if the player completes special or secret tasks. These individual abilities allow for different play-styles, improving the variety and replay value of the game. Each character has an ability unique to them, adding an additional element to the gameplay. Two additional secret characters can only be played under special circumstances during play. The player controls one of a total of 12 characters, 10 of which must be unlocked through play. There are also daily and weekly challenge modes, allowing the player to compete against others via the Steam platform for the best score (determined by the number of kills in the playthrough), on the same set of randomly generated levels. The game consists of two main game modes: single-player, and a local cooperative gameplay mode. After defeating the throne you will see the game's ending.Nuclear Throne is a top-down shooter roguelike game with bullet hell elements. The massive blast consists mostly of big green explosions which deal 12-24 damage each. Each green bullet deals 2 damage on contact.ĭeath Phase Upon death the Throne explodes into multiple small explosions and then one large explosion. In total, it fires 48 large bullets in the general direction of the player and will often repeat this attack, each time changing it's direction. Tri-shot phase The Throne fires a triple bullet shot from 2 mounted turrets. Large orbs will break the Throne Statues which spawn Guardians. The large orbs causes 12 damage on contact. Large orbs instantly spawn the small orbs upon hit. Each smaller orb deals 5 damage on contact. The large orbs have a high chance to drop mini ammo/health pickups. This is the main attack of the Throne, and is fired toward the player. Orb Phase The Throne fires 2 large green orbs which, in turn, explode into 7 lines of 4 smaller orbs each. Each statue spawns a Guardian that will try to kill your character. As it comes in contact with the Throne Statue props, it will break them. Walking away from the boss triggers it to move towards you. Walking on the red carpet during the fight can trigger the boss to fire its beam. It will cycle randomly through moving, and Beam, Orb, or Tri-shot phases over time. After the first beam phase the throne transforms, grows legs and begins to move in your direction a little at a time.
